Stafford County Flour Mills Company- Hudson, Kansas Recipe Book using Hudson Cream Flour Like many industries in the United States, it began with a dream. Gustav Krug migrated from Saxony, Germany in 1882 and settled on a farm north of Hudson, Kansas. His father, Karl, specialized in the milling business in Germany. Gustav pursued his dream to build a flour mill in Hudson. IN 1904 Gustav and hi brother-in Law, Otto Sonderegger, organized the "Hudson Milling Company" They built a wooden mill and began operating in 1905 without telephone, electricity, trucks or automobiles. Communication and travel involved telegraph, railroad, horse, and buggy. In 1909 a stock company formed and the name changed to "Stafford County Flour Mills Company," producer of "Hudson Cream Flour."
